Symptoms: What Is Your Body Trying To Tell You?

Symptoms:

What Is Your Body Trying to Tell You?

Have you ever noticed how certain symptoms seem to flare up when you’re around specific people or in certain situations? Maybe it’s the pounding headache that strikes after every family gathering or the dizziness that creeps in every Monday morning before work. Or perhaps you’ve observed an odd pattern—symptoms that show up like clockwork, the same time every year.

Why does this happen? Could your body be holding on to more than just aches and pains?

The Connection Between Trauma and Symptoms

Your body remembers everything, even when you don’t. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, in his groundbreaking book The Body Keeps the Score, revealed how unprocessed trauma can become stored in the body, manifesting as physical symptoms. It’s not just in your head—it’s in your cells, your nervous system, and even the timing of your flare-ups.

Take, for example, a client I worked with who had persistent skin issues every April. Through muscle testing, we uncovered that April was the month of a painful breakup years ago. His body wasn’t just reacting to the weather or allergens—it was responding to the memory of heartbreak, replaying unresolved emotions in the form of physical distress.

Our bodies are brilliant at communicating, but often, we don’t listen.

What Do Symptoms Mean? Wisdom of your body

Physical symptoms are connected to emotional causes. Our body shows us the message hidden within every ache, pain, and illness, below are the few examples i have seen in my practice:

  • Eye problems: Fear of seeing the truth in your life.
  • Thyroid problems: Feeling unheard or unable to speak your truth.
  • Breast issues: A call to nurture and mother yourself or others.
  • Back pain: The weight of feeling unsupported or carrying too much.
  • Hip issues: Resistance or fear of moving forward in life.

When we experience symptoms, we often react with frustration or seek a quick fix. But what if, instead, we paused and asked: What is my body trying to tell me?

The Role of Intention in Healing

Symptoms aren’t just random—they are your body’s way of expressing something deeper. At their core, they are often linked to intentions, conscious or unconscious, that guide your body’s behavior.

Intentions can be shaped by trauma, emotions, or life circumstances. For example:

  • Someone facing abuse might unconsciously choose separation from the world as a way to cope with the pain.
  • A person overwhelmed by medical problems might develop an intention to control their suffering by holding onto illness—it feels safer than the unknown of healing.

Intentions, like trauma, can be age-specific or situational. They’re the hidden drivers behind why your body holds onto symptoms and why certain patterns repeat. They are the “oxygen” fueling the fire of unresolved emotions.

Finding the Root Cause: The Power of Muscle Testing

The good news? These patterns can be unraveled. Using muscle testing, we can dialogue directly with the body, uncovering:

  • The root intention behind symptoms.
  • Hidden emotions keeping trauma alive.
  • The specific age or moment in life when these patterns began.

Chronic illness, recurring symptoms, or even mysterious aches are often the body’s cry for help—a way of saying, Something needs healing here.

Listening to Your Body’s Wisdom

So, how do you begin? Start small:

  1. Pay attention: Notice when and where your symptoms show up. Are there patterns? Specific times, people, or places?
  2. Ask your body: When you feel pain or discomfort, pause and ask, What do I need to know right now?
  3. Be willing to listen: Remember, “Your body loves you. It communicates with you. Are you willing to get the message?”

Your Healing Blueprint

Your body is not working against you; it’s working for you. Symptoms, patterns, and flare-ups are simply the language your body uses to guide you toward healing.

When you tune in, listen, and address the underlying intentions and emotions, you unlock the potential for true transformation. Healing isn’t about masking symptoms—it’s about finding the meaning behind them and giving your body what it truly needs.

What might your symptoms be trying to tell you? Are you ready to listen?
